Mandy Jones-Fischer, LCSW, RPT-S™, JD

Mandy Jones-Fischer (She/Her/Hers), LCSW, RPT-S™, JD is a Certified Theraplay® Practitioner, Trainer, and Supervisor. She also has extensive training in sandtray therapy. Mandy has worked almost exclusively with adoptive and foster families since she began her career. She takes a particular interest in helping families with young children form strong attachments and work through sensory concerns. Mandy is also experienced in helping adopted individuals with identity, loss, and anxiety concerns throughout their lifespan. More recently, Mandy has been focusing her clinical work on helping children born during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic who are struggling with overwhelming anxiety.

Mandy has undergone training in PNET (Perinatal Narrative Exposure Therapy). She has developed a passion for working with birthing parents as they navigate trauma processing during pregnancy. She understands the impact that the ghosts of babies lost have on parenting children. Similarly, Mandy lost a baby halfway through her own pregnancy and is committed to supporting those who have experienced pregnancy loss, infant loss, abortion, and infertility.

While Mandy doesn’t regularly practice law, through her legal work she has advocated for children in both the Illinois and Michigan child welfare systems. She continues to use her legal knowledge and advocacy skills to help families gain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and other essential resources for children. Mandy earned her BA in Political Science and her BS in Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. She earned her Master of Clinical Social Work and Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University. She is further trained in TBRI and ARC. Mandy can be reached at mandy@nurturedrootschicago.com.

Yehudis Goldfarb, LSW

Yehudis Goldfarb is a Licensed Social Worker and Play-Based Therapist who brings warmth, empathy, and deep expertise to her work with children, families, and individuals of all ages. She is passionate about the transformative power of Child-Centered Play Therapy and wholeheartedly believes in a child’s natural ability to heal and grow when given a safe, supportive space.

Yehudis has a special interest in supporting children with big feelings, sensitive nervous systems, and developmental differences. She loves partnering with caregivers to explore the "why" behind a child’s behavior—using the latest insights from neuroscience to help families create homes filled with connection, safety, and joy.

Yehudis is currently advancing her clinical training to become a Registered Play Therapist and is engaged in specialized training in Theraplay®—a playful, attachment-based approach that nurtures healthy, secure bonds between children and their caregivers.

Outside of her clinical work, Yehudis is a proud mom of four teenagers (and one very lovable Goldendoodle named Waffles!). Her personal experiences as a parent deeply inform her work and bring an added layer of understanding and compassion to the families she supports.

Rebecca Remshak, Professional Bookkeeper

Rebecca Remshak owns a bookkeeping firm, Remshak Consulting, LLC, and serves Nurtured Roots Counseling and Consulting as one of her many clients. In 2013, Rebecca made the decision to leave her role at Kraft Foods to care for her son after open-heart surgery. Soon after, she was invited to assist a family business with office management, where she discovered her passion for accounting. Working closely with their CPA, she gained hands-on experience in job cost accounting and built a strong foundation for what would become a dedicated career in finance and operations management.

Over the past decade, Rebecca has developed deep expertise in construction accounting, spending four years with a subcontractor and five years managing accounting operations for a property owner and developer. Her background also includes manufacturing and marina accounting, as well as extensive work in real estate and investor distribution activities. She is developing a new expertise in the field of mental health billing and insurance reconciliation. Today, through Remshak Consulting LLC, she brings that experience forward to help businesses stay organized, financially sound, and ready for growth.
